Dr. Paul T. Martinelli

Dr. Paul T. Martinelli is a board-certified dermatologist by the American Board of Dermatology and a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon by the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS). The ACMS is the only organization that requires its members to have successfully completed an extensive one- to two-year fellowship training program in Mohs surgery after they have completed their years of dermatology residency training. Dr. Martinelli is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

He graduated from Yale University with a degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry, and he received his medical degree with honors from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. The following year he served a general medicine internship and was voted Best Resident of his intern class by the faculty. Dr. Martinelli completed his dermatology residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he was awarded the Wilhelm Paul Johnson, M.D. Memorial Award for academic excellence. In addition, he completed a formal 2-year fellowship accredited by the American College of Mohs Surgery at the Dermatologic Surgery Center of Houston under the guidance of Dr. Bruce Nelson, participating in approximately 2,000 surgical cases.

Dr. Martinelli is currently a clinical assistant professor in dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and is also on the medical staff at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Plano, the VA Medical Center in Dallas, and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital HEB. Prior to starting the Texas Skin Surgery Center, he spent three years in a successful private Mohs surgical practice in Arlington, Texas.

Dr. Martinelli specializes in the treatment of skin cancers and has authored over 25 medical articles and textbook chapters. He has been recognized as a D Magazine Best Doctor in 2016 and has been a recipient of the Vitals Patients’ Choice Award every year since 2011. As an expert in skin cancer surgery and aesthetic reconstruction, he receives thousands of referrals each year from dermatologists, surgeons, and family practitioners from across the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond. As an active member of the community, Dr. Martinelli supports many local charities and is a proud member of the Children's Trust, a charitable organization dedicated to providing leadership and philanthropic support to Children's Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Martinelli is also a member of the Dermatology Foundation Leaders Society, a non-profit organization committed to providing funding for education and research for the next generation of dermatologists.

Dr. Martinelli lives in Dallas with his wife and two sons and is known to have a special place in his heart for large rescue dogs.

Dr. James D. Russell

Dr. James D. Russell is a dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon. He is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

Dr. Russell graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Science Pre-Professional studies. He attended medical school at the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he finished fifth in his class, and he was awarded his degree with honors for academic excellence. After a one year internship at the University of Colorado, Dr. Russell completed his dermatology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. He was selected to continue his Mohs training at VCU with a formal fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology, under the direction of Dr. Algin Garrett.

Dr. Russell is a dedicated physician and an expert in the treatment of skin cancer. As a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, he specializes in skin cancer surgery and advanced reconstruction, with an emphasis on cosmetic outcomes. He treats every patient with a personal approach, guiding them through every step of the skin cancer treatment process.

Outside of work, Dr. Russell has shown a lifelong commitment to community involvement and giving to those in need. He lives in Dallas, where he enjoys playing golf, travel, and most of all spending time with his wife and three children.
